Good reasons!
1. A sad story can still have a satisfying — sometimes even a happy — ending.
2. Good stories are supposed to make you feel things. Some people read to numb the pain, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But not all “sad” is “bad.”
3. You write for an audience. That audience doesn’t have to include everyone. There are going to be people who don’t want to read sad stories. That doesn’t mean you can’t write them.
4. Writing sad stories gives the writer an outlet for channeling their pain.
