Oh how I love the British Isles – a humorous poem

Oh how I love the British Isles

what a splendid place to be,

there is an abundance of things to do

and countless places to explore and see.


I find it  absolutely wonderful

how Britain honours every contribution

by each and every person

who has provided some sort of solution.


You can visit Darwin’s House

and learn about the theory of evolution

or you can go to the Tower of London

and find out about an execution.


Did you know about Darwin’s granddad?

he was a notable doctor and inventor

while you are in the Lichfield area

you can explore his herb and plant centre.


You can explore countless cathedrals

or find out about Roman Gods and myths,

you can walk the path of paganism

or visit the shops and buy your gifts.


The weather can be a bit iffy

you have to carry a coat and brolly
