Uhm, Elliot?  Colleen is the Fairy Whisperer, you know. Belief in fairies is, well, we all do around here.  Besides, you believe in some pretty fantastical things yourself.  Just saying.

Right, then, I’ll give you that some, a-hum, my brother, cough, cough, uhm, that some people don’t always respect my ideas.  But just because I can think outside of the box and have not confined my brain to a straitjacket, like my detractors, doesn’t mean….

  1. http://www.fantasybookcafe.com/2018/03/review-of-beneath-the-haunting-sea-by-joanna-ruth-meyer/ Beneath the Haunting Sea, Joanna Ruth Meyer’s young adult fantasy debut novel, is a tale about fate, love, courage, selflessness, and determination built upon forgotten history, myths, and family secrets. It’s a lovely story—even a book I found rather difficult to put down during the second half—but there are some issues with its execution despite being enjoyable overall.
  2. https://libraryoferana.wordpress.com/2018/03/09/book-spotlight-assassin-13-adult-dystopian/ Like all badass heroines, Lauren projects sass and grit to cover past hurts. She’s trained as an elite assassin and takes pleasure in the lives she ends to better her world. Then she ends up in 1920s Hollywood, and her purpose shifts from hit jobs to caring for and protecting others, ironically, from gangsters who were idolized in her dystopian world.

Romance/Women’s Fiction:

  1. http://pitchwars.org/reality-wedding-by-laura-heffernan-happy-release-day/ When Jen Reid escaped a reality TV cruise with her relationship intact—if not her hair—she swore she was done with the cameras for good. Sure, she and Justin met, had their first kiss, and got engaged with tape rolling, but manufactured drama and ruthless producers have shaken them up more times than she can count. With Jen’s reality-themed bakery just getting started and her brand-new lawyer fiancé in a pile of debt, they’re a long way from glitz and glamour, and that’s fine by Jen. Until the Network calls and tells her that unless she says “I do” to a wedding special, Justin will be out of a job.
  2. http://booksbywomen.org/about-the-author-yang-huang/ YANG HUANG grew up in China’s Jiangsu province and participated in the 1989 student uprisings. She lives in the Bay Area and works for the University of California, Berkeley.
  3. http://www.talesoftheravenousreader.com/2018/03/the-only-code-allowed-bro-code-by.html There’s pretty much only one rule when you’re a guy.

Don’t be a douche.

Turns out, the fastest way to break that rule is to fall for your best friend’s sister.”

  5. http://www.fromthemixedupfiles.com/2018/03/post-apocalyptic-pre-apocalyptic-fiction/ Books in this genre can help us to better appreciate the world we have and, in the best of cases, inspire us to action necessary to preserve and protect our actual future. They are prophecies that must not come true, and every time our society comes up with a fresh anxiety, the post-apocalyptic genre evolves to include it.

  4. http://themilitantnegro.com/2018/03/06/madman-by-ws-greer/ People fear what they don’t understand. Maybe that’s why they all fear me. I’m sure they have their reasons, I just couldn’t possibly care what any of them are. As long as they’re afraid.
Born to a drug dealer father and a drug addict mother, I’ve been through enough to make a normal person lose their mind five times over. I’m not normal. Normal is for weak people, and I’m anything but weak.
  5. http://lizlovesbooks.com/lizlovesbooks/we-were-the-salt-of-the-sea-roxanne-bouchard-blog-tour-review/ As Montrealer Catherine Day sets foot in a remote fishing village and starts asking around about her birth mother, the body of a woman dredges up in a fisherman’s nets. Not just any woman, though: Marie Garant, an elusive, nomadic sailor and unbridled beauty who once tied many a man’s heart in knots. Detective Sergeant Joaquin Morales, newly drafted to the area from the suburbs of Montreal, barely has time to unpack his suitcase before he’s thrown into the deep end of the investigation. On Quebec’s outlying Gaspé Peninsula, the truth can be slippery, especially down on the fishermen’s wharves. Interviews drift into idle chit-chat, evidence floats off with the tide and the truth lingers in murky waters. It’s enough to make DS Morales reach straight for a large whisky.

Poetry:

  1. http://colleenchesebro.com/2018/03/08/honoring-a-woman-with-a-new-book/ A Haiku Perspective 2018is a year of my life, presented through poetic observations. While it’s not your mother’s Haiku, each poem is laid out a traditional haiku format of 17 syllables spread out over 3 lines. Even if the poem is longer than 3 lines, it still maintains the 5-7-5 syllable line count for every 3 lines.

Indie:

  1. http://www.paul-andruss.com/molly-bloom/ Years ago, when writing Finn Mac Cool, I discovered James Joyce’s Ulysses.

Joyce’s novel was based around Homer’s Odyssey: the story of a ten year journey home by the Greek hero Odysseus (or Ulysses in Latin) after the Trojan War.
